Adam Lowry's late goal lifts Jets to 4-3 win over Sharks – Hockey Writer – Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets (23-9-1) opened a two-game Pacific Division road trip with a win on Tuesday night (Dec. 17), riding on some late-game heroics to edge 4 – 3 defeated the San Jose Sharks.

The Jets clinched the win with a field goal with just over a minute left in the third period, but the Sharks (11-18-5) gave it all they had.

Jets captain Adam Lowry played the hero role when he converted a point shot from Dylan DeMello into Sharks goalie Alexander Georgiev with 1:13 left. In the end, the visiting team Jets set the score at 4-3.

Kyle Connor opened the scoring for the Jets midway through the first period. He caught Mark Scheifele's run and buried the ball past Georgiev with a forehand and backhand to make it 1-0.

The Sharks struck back early in the second period, tying the score at 1-1 on a pass from behind the net by former Jets player Tyler Toffoli.

Seven and a half minutes into the second quarter, the Jets regained the lead on Sheffield's power-play goal. The goal came off a great pass from Cole Perfetti, who scored a beautiful pass from Scheifele on the ice to make it 2-0. twenty one.

The Sharks tied the game again late in the second quarter when Macklin Celebrini, the 2024 No. 1 overall pick, fired a harmless backhand shot into the Jets' net. The ball went past Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck didn't seem to see it all clearly, but the Sharks found a way to even the score at 2-2.

Less than five minutes into the third quarter, the Sharks took their first lead of the night. Fabian Zetterlund made it 3-2 with a freakish rush that broke Hellebuyck's glove.

Conner fired a wicked wrist shot from the right circle midway through the third period for his second goal of the game and 19th of the season. It was the Jets' second power-play goal of the night, tying the game again, this time at 3-3.

Lowry's heroic coverage gave the Jets a 4-3 lead in the final seconds, and they won an exciting game 4-3, successfully preserving their one-goal lead.

Hellebuyck notched his 20th win of the season, becoming the first goaltender in the league to reach that mark in the 2024-25 season. He made 32 saves in the win. Georgiev lost the game after allowing four goals on 33 shots.

The Jets will host the Anaheim Ducks in the second half of a back-to-back on Wednesday night (December 18). The Sharks will return to action on Thursday, December 19, to take on the Colorado Avalanche.
