Springfield, Massachusetts … NHL Coaches Association (NHLCA) Member Joey Ali, Beth Hanrahan, Sunil Karode and Jessica Turi has been invited to participate Spotlight 29 Casino Presents 2025 AHL All-Star Classicwill be held on February 2-3 at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California, home of the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
In 2023, the AHL launched an initiative to provide professionals from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to work with and receive mentorship from a variety of staff members in the AHL All-Star Classic locker room and on the bench.
Ali and Carod are NHLCA BIPOC Coaching Program. Ali operates the Pro-Formance Goalkeeper School and Proali Goalkeeper Training Center in Surrey, British Columbia, and is a goalie consultant for Simon Fraser University, British Columbia Junior Hockey and several minor hockey organizations, as well as the Canadian Blind Hockey Organization. Carloder is currently the assistant general manager and director of technical development for the Victoria Grizzlies of the British Columbia Hockey League. He has more than 20 years of coaching and scouting experience, winning the Royal Bank Cup national championship in 2018 and with Victoria in 2018. The Cougars won five championships.
Hanrahan and Turi are NHLCA Women’s Coaching Program. Hanrahan, an assistant coach with the Brown University women's lacrosse program, played at Providence College and the NWHL's New York Riverters and previously coached at Mercyhurst College, Lindenwood University and Shattuck St. Louis University. Mary School. Turi is an assistant coach for the men's and women's hockey programs at York University and a high school teacher and coach in Mississauga, Ont. She also won the Isabel Cup as an assistant coach with the PHF Toronto Six and won two national championships as head coach of Team Ontario.
They will follow the all-star coach Jody Kinnear, John Gruden, Dan Watson and Joe Cirella throughout the event.
