People go out of their way to get into the Riviera Country Club, but this method is not recommended.
A small plane landed in an emergency at a famous private club in Santa Monica, California, around 1 p.m. Friday, buzzing during classes and bouncing in wild scenes captured in mobile videos.
No one on the ground or any of the three on the plane was injured, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A Riviera representative told Golf.com by phone that the club could not comment on the matter.
It quickly spread in the video of the incident, and hearing a man’s voice aroused people’s surprise from the lesson as the phone camera focused on close-up. A moment later, a single-engine Cessna emerged, swinging the first fairway and bouncing on the second green turf before swaying on the 10th T-shirt when frightened golfers watching.
Riviera is a high-end member club and three-time big champion host, a golf fan and a host of the Genesis Invitational, an annual event hosted by Tiger Woods and part of the West Coast swing of the PGA Tour. This year, the wildfires were destroyed in January, and after storming wildfires in Los Angeles in January, the Genesis was forced to move to Torrey Pines in San Diego. The fire killed 30 people and reduced the ruins of the entire community, burned to the edge of the Riviera, but did not damage the route.
There were few details about emergency landings Friday afternoon, but flight tracking information posted on Flighttradar24.com showed that gels with the same tail number as the plane in the video were planned to land at the nearby Santa Monica Airport at the same time as the same incident.
The incident will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Commission.
