al-Nassr hopes to keep the legend going

Cristiano Ronaldo can stay in Saudi Arabia with the Nassr club (Al-Nassr), hoping he will convince him to extend his contract.

Sports director and Real Madrid legend Fernando Hierro praised Ronaldo for his impact on the middle game, but admitted that many clubs were eager to take the 40-year-old.

Ronaldo promoted his future speculation after the season ended in Al-fateh on Monday and posted on social media: “This chapter is over. Story? Still writing.”

“Ronaldo’s contract with al-Nassr will last until June 30. We will work hard to renew his contract so that he can continue to keep in touch with us and there are many clubs interested in signing him,” Hero said in a press conference.

Although Al-Nassr failed to compete in the club World Cup, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said last week that discussions about Ronaldo playing in the U.S. are underway.

Ronaldo was the top scorer in the back-to-back Saudi professional league season, and Hierro described him as the Saudi league trailblazer.

“From the beginning, Ronaldo’s presence was a national project,” said Hiro.

“Cristiano has opened football to the world in this country.
