Alejandro Garnacho refuted the comparison with Cristiano Ronaldo in his first spell at Manchester United, saying football was “different”.
Garnacho’s goal in Sunday’s 4-3 defeat at Brentford was his 14th place in the Premier League – Ronaldo played in United’s colors before his 21st birthday.
The Argentine International team was only 21 years old until July 1, so he had a good chance to surpass Ronaldo’s statistics. The Portuguese managed it after signing Manchester United from Sports CP in 2003.

Garnacho will have to match Ronaldo
Since then, Ronaldo’s career has taken him to different levels, winning league titles in England, Spain and Italy, as well as five Ballons d’Or, and he still excels in Saudi professional league team Al-Nassr.
When asked about today, Garnacho said that there is little point in comparison with football now compared to 20 years ago.
He said: “I don’t focus on numbers. When Cristiano is playing here, it’s different football and different types of games.
“I’m just trying to help the team and try to win the game. We and all the forwards on the team are training very hard. I think we’re improving, we’re trying to do better.”

United boss Ruben Amorim has no secret of frustration with the current United team, calling them “the worst history in club history”, but Garnacho cleverly avoided the man sitting next to him at a press conference this afternoon to preview tomorrow night’s Europa League semi-final against sports Bambao.
He added: “We know we didn’t do a great job in the Premier League, but the manager has said before that we follow the rules and for us, it’s the final.
“If we win the Europa League, we will be in the Champions League and we can face next season with a better mindset.
“It’s not easy in your season where you change managers and all your staff, but in my opinion, working hard every day and trying to show the managers I need to play with. That’s the only thing I have to do.”
