Ancelotti leaves Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid after the final La Liga match of the season and be in charge of Brazil, according to extensive reports this afternoon.

The news is generally expected as Madrid appears to be heading towards a trophy-free season after his 4-3 win over Barcelona yesterday.

Barca also beat Madrid in the Cup final, and now only three games left have clear seven points. Ancelotti also has nothing to do to prevent the champion holder from surrendering his champion to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Impressive legacy

The 64-year-old Italian will leave Santiago Bernabeu to become one of the club’s most successful managers, leading them to 15 major trophies, including three Champions League titles.

However, this season has been disappointing. Last summer, Kylian Mbappe’s signing was supposed to complete an impressive lineup and help them maintain their dominance over Barcelona enjoyed in 2023-24.

But Barca is becoming stronger among the likes of the prominent Lamine Yamal, and things aren’t as Ancelotti wants in the capital. They get hurt in defense – Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao suffered end-of-season damage early on – and midfielder needs a makeover due to Toni Kroos’ retirement and Luka Modric’s advance year.

Madrid looks regularly disconnected, and Barcelona returns to superiority.

Xabi Alonso replaces Ancelotti

Whether Madrid can fight again will fall on Xabi Alonso’s shoulders. The former Los Blancos midfielder has confirmed that he will leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season, his next destination.

As for Ancelotti, his mission is to turn Brazil into a World Cup contender in the United States, Mexico and Canada next year.

He will immediately start working with Selecao after leaving Spain, which means he will be responsible for the June qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.

Ancelotti replaced Dorival Junior who was fired in March.
