Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards believes Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the front-runner to win the MVP award.
Edwards on Gilgeous-Alexander: “NBA MVP, he is undefendable”
Averaging 31.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game, Gilgeous-Alexander is undoubtedly one of the best talents in the NBA and has MVP credentials.
The 26-year-old is currently the favorite to win the award (-120), ahead of Nikola Jokic (+137), according to Best Online Sportsbook – but the stakes are very high near.
After Gilgeous-Alexander scored 40 points in a win over the Timberwolves, Edwards told the media:
“I don't know if they can give it to [Jokic] again. Yeah, I would say Shay. Yeah, he looks like an MVP, man. He was incredible again tonight. He was consistent every night. His team will give him the ball and let him perform every night.
“I hope they give [MVP] This year is a sure bet for him. I feel like he should have won the title last year, but he's using his smarts now.

The Canadian star said he appreciated Edwards' comments and found them powerful:
“It feels really good. No offense to you guys in the media, but the best satisfaction is when your peers and people who are making a living at a very high level actually recognize and respect your craft and talent.
“It feels really good.”
The Thunder's star player finished second in MVP voting last season, but there's a good chance he'll be better this time around and win the award.
The Thunder currently sit atop the Western Conference by a wide margin, with only the Cleveland Cavaliers in the league having a better overall record.
