There are a lot of games in the first round series between St. Louis Bruce and Winnipeg Jets. The Blues won the 5-2 championship with a score of 3-3. The victory was a much-needed Blues to push it to Game 7, which was a missed opportunity for the Jets to advance to the second round. Let’s take a look at the review of this game.
Game review
Phase 1
The game started quickly as both teams were claiming their first goal. By about 6:05 to that period, Bruce defender Philip Broberg scored on a one-time pass from Robert Thomas, while Jimmy Snuggerud received a secondary assist.

Since neither team can take advantage of some close opportunities, the rest of the first stage is scoreless. This period ended with an 8-2 shot, in favor of the Blues.
Phase 2
When Morgan Barron scored what he thought was a tying target, the Jets received the call, but after a review of the challenge on the Blues bench, it waved and the game was still 1-0 on the Blues. However, in the power play, the Jets finally responded with a fair goal from Cole Perfetti as he beat Kyle Connor’s rebound in the second phase 5:43. Josh Morrissey received a secondary assist.
On the 11:34 time stamp, Nathan Walker was fined for a powerful shot that allowed the Jets to equalize, scoring 2-1 from close shots from Broberg (main assist) and Justin Faulk (intermediate assist). After that, the Blues didn’t stop and about a minute later, Captain Brayden Schenn scored 3-1. Jake Neighbors received the main assist and attributed the secondary assist to Ryan Suter.
The goal did not stop there. Cam Fowler scored on assisted wrists of Colton Parayko (primary assist) and Alexey Toropchenko (secondary assist). Then, with three minutes left for the second time, Radek Faksa assisted Alexey Toropchenko to achieve the final goal of the period. The period ended again with a shot that favored Bruce, 15-9.
Stage 3
After the Jets’ back-up goalkeeper Eric Comrie entered Game 4, he started the third quarter again when he had to pull Hellebuyck. Despite defeating four goals after the second goal, Nino Niederreiter poked out a 5-2 shot assisted by Mason Appleton and Vladislav Namestnikov. The game ended with a total shot of 27-22.
On Sunday, May 4 at 6 p.m., the Blues and Jets will play Game 7 in Winnipeg in Winnipeg to find out who goes to the next round.
