Arsenal may accept £76m bid to upgrade with ‘spectacular’ Odegaard

If Mikel Arteta is going to be successful at Arsenal, this summer is a huge game for him and he needs to get key additions in his first team to help them take to the next level.

The Spaniard has held the position since December 2020, overhauling the team and helping them restore their Premier League seats in recent years.

However, over the past two years, the Gunners have been able to finish the game in second place, unable to make progress, taking a step further, ending their two decades of waiting for a championship victory.

During his tenure, the 43-year-old won only one major trophy, claiming to win the FA Cup in 2019/20 – if he is to maintain his position, he needs to achieve greater success.

If he wants to do so, he will need to support the board of directors in the transfer market and need to land various key goals in multiple areas to provide the strength and depth he is very eager for.

Latest news about Arsenal’s search for a new signing this summer

A striker has been the shopping list of Andrea Berta, who has been Arsenal sporting director, for the past few weeks, and Viktor Gyokeres is his first choice this summer.

The Swedes won 52 games for Sports CP in all matches in 2024/25, scoring 52 goals in his 48 matches, which has attracted a lot of interest from multiple European clubs.

However, he is not the only player on the shortlist, with Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz being the latest name to appear on the summer shortlist.

The report claims that Serie A can offer €90 million (£76 million) in the coming months to the 20-year-old Turkish International Corporation.

The Gunner is said to want to improve Arteta’s choice in the last third, given his versatility, Yildiz’s estimates are high and can provide an exciting opportunity for young people.

Why Arsenal’s £76m goal can replace Arsenal’s Odegaard

Martin Odegaard has been Arsenal’s creativity over the past few seasons, handing Arteta to the Premier League platform.

The Norwegian has been a regular starter in the Gunners’ offensive midfield role since transferring £30m from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021.

However, in recent months, he has been unable to achieve his best performance and his injury has hindered his progress and will undoubtedly affect his performance.

The ankle problem he suffered in September made him miss six weeks of action, and has since registered only nine combined goals and assists, highlighting his lack of form in the UAE region.

The summer will give the 26-year-old more time to get full fitness back, but if the hierarchy reaches Yildiz’s agreement, he may not be able to thrive in his regular role on 2025/26.

The young man, who is primarily a winger, was also able to take on the 10th role, which could end the Norwegian’s time as a regular starter for Arteta’s program.

When comparing the respective statistics on the ongoing campaign, the Turkish star surpassed Odegaard in every key area, highlighting what he would be great in North London.

The Juve star was labeled “spectacular” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, completing more progressive carrys per 90 points and completing more takeaways – showing the threat he posed at the foot of the offensive area.

He also managed to achieve higher shooting rates and gained more tackles and was able to make an impact on both ends of the court in Arteta’s system.

Given the price tag that is already known, this would be a huge addition, but Yildiz, despite his young age, still showed off his quality at the top.

He has the potential to take his career to the next level in the Premier League, arguably the club’s ambition to return to the division in the near future.
