Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski believes Real Madrid will be “dangerous” under the leadership of new boss Xabi Alonso.
Lewandowski played with Alonso at Bayern Munich and knew he would one day make his transition from player to coach.
Lewandowski, following Bayer Leverkusen’s advancement, believes the Spaniard will change Madrid’s fate after the now-leading trophy season of Carlo Ancelotti.
He told Mundo Deportivo: “I think nothing of what Xabi Alonso did at Real Madrid because he had won the Champions League multiple times. But Xabi Alonso is at the beginning of his coaching journey. From the beginning, he will bring fresh blood, but I’m sure Real Madrid is dangerous.

Can Barcelona maintain their Krasico dominance?
Last season, Madrid lost all four Krascos at Barca as Hansi Flick’s side scored twice the league and cup games.
But Polish International Lewandowski said the current level of domination can now be challenged.
He added: “As a player, I know Xabi very well. We both always train together. I know Xabi will become a coach one day. First, of course, in a more modest team. But a few years later, he is the coach of a great team in the world.
“I think he’s a good coach for Real Madrid who can help this team. Maybe he needs a little time, but he’s preparing for this club.”
Alonso’s top priority is to lead Madrid in the World Cup that will begin next week in the United States.
Club World Cup absence may be blessed
Barcelona didn’t participate, but Lewandowski believes it might be positive in the end.
“I don’t think it’s going to be good for our competitors because they don’t have enough rest and then they don’t have time to play in preseason,” he said. “It’s normal for you to stumble throughout the season. I think it’s great if we don’t have that moment of decline and use it to win games and points.
“We have to be prepared for this moment when another team fails, and we think that’s possible. And I’m sure, physically, we’re going to be prepared.”
Lewandowski is blown away by the splendid Yamal
The key to Barcelona’s advantage will be in the form of teenage superstar Lamine Yamal.
The Spanish winger is still 17 years old, but has won a favorite of Ballon d’OR due to a series of impressive displays.
Lewandowski is on the other end of his career, but is shocked by the impact on young people.
He said: “I remember the first time Lamin trained with us. He was only 15 years old. Before that, I had never seen a player like my whole life, especially a player of that age, who had his talent.
“He is a very mature player. [on his shoulders]. He doesn’t behave like he is 17 years old. He also showed typical maturity of strategies and things we were talking about on the spot.
“I think Lamine has great talent, I think he’s 23 or 24 years old. I think he’s playing very high in the last three months. If you have players like Lamine who can do a lot with the ball, then the team also becomes very dangerous offensively.
“If Lamine wants to work, not just a year or two, I’m talking about five, six or seven years, he can play top games for a long time and can win many championships.”
