We have reached our second stop in the Florida swing, the 10th game of the 2025 PGA Tour and the fourth autograph race for the New Year. Welcome to Orlando, Florida, and Bay Hill Club & Lodge, where the Arnold Palmer Invitational Tournament is located.
The field this week consists of 72 players. There will be a 36-hole cut that will trim the top 50 players and tie. Of course, Bay Mountain is a big boys golf course. Originally designed by Dick Wilson and Joe Lee, Arnold Palmer bought the property in 1976 and began placing his hands on adjustments and redesigns for the next forty years. Today’s version extends to nearly 7,500 yards and is the Bermudagrass of the wall. The greens are relatively large, sturdy and fast, and are a more difficult surface on the tour. Most of it may be thick, punitive to border the fairway.
We have noticed that batting is an overwhelming theme for Florida swings, and what are the main skills required for this four-week stretching exercise, so I studied the strokes that were opened: avoiding the T-shirt, getting the action: approach, driving distance, driving distance, and getting the green in the regulation this week. In addition, I also studied the battle, Sanji and SG: Putting (Bermudagrass). When you include par 3 in Bay Hill, it has the largest collection of shots throughout the tour calendar, which measures 200 yards or higher, so I also looked at hole proximity over 200 yards and was also successful in 40-4-point 4 for 450-500 yards.
TPC Scottsdale is perhaps my strongest related course this week. Scottie Scheffler won two wins here, twice winning Bay Hill. I also like this week’s Quail Hollow and Memorial Park (Houston Open). I also looked at the southern hills of the Olympia fields of the 2022 PGA Championship, where the BMW Championships were held in 2020 and 2023, and Oak Hill, the 2023 PGA champion.

We also need to be aware of our weather forecast in Orlando this week. Thunderbolt therapy is expected to arrive Wednesday afternoon, and wind is also expected to be a factor, although sunlight should return on Friday and Saturday. On Thursday and Sunday, our gusts may exceed 20 mph. It’s a little bit of everything, and it seems very likely that the weather will play a role in this event.
With limited areas, people have to pay more for the top 20 results, but I still do that except to play each of the following for a complete victory.
Justin Thomas (25-1)
In my opinion, Thomas is being overlooked a little bit now, and it is understandable that this is his last win in the 2022 PGA Championship. I do like the fact that that victory really came out in Southern Hills, one of our related courses. Thomas has had a huge success over the years at TPC Scottsdale, where he finished sixth place the most recent month ago. That was the first of his two top ten games in a row to enter this week and the third in his young season. Thomas has been third in the SG: Approaches in the last 36 rounds and seventh in 4 shots of 450-500 yards. His tee has enough length and is one of the best scrambled balls in the game. I also like how he was popular in this special game. This will be his fourth time playing the API, and each time it gradually improves with a 49-21-12 victory.
Mavericks McKen (56-1)
Like Thomas, McNealy has been in the top 10 of the season and has appeared in two straight games this week, listing last month at TPC Scottsdale. He ranked 13th in the field: The approach, finishing 19th in the regulations, close to 17th in holes above 200 yards, and sixth in 450-500 yards in the last 36 rounds. McNealy also ranked seventh in this field, ranking by SG:PUTTING (Bermudagrass).
Min Woo Lee (75-1)
Australians are usually excellent wind energy players, and this past event has been a great success here. Marc Leishman and Jason Day won the championship in back-to-back years, and Leishman also finished second. Lee finished 12th in the WM Phoenix Open and ranked 18th in Oak Hill’s 2023 PGA Championship. He is one of the longest batsmen in the field, and he has been ranked sixth in SG in the last 36 rounds. Lee also ranks close to 24th in the 200+ code hole. The table this season is excellent, with three top 20 in four games.
Matt Fitzpatrick (95-1)
We removed something from Fitzpatrick’s hot 2023 season, but I can’t ignore his performance here and in related courses. He hasn’t been spectacular this season, but has made three layoffs in four games. The cuts he missed were in Phoenix, but he also scored 10th and 15th places there in the past. He ranked 14th and 9th in Bay Hill, fifth in Southern Hills, sixth and sixth in Olympia Fields. Fitzpatrick has ranked first half in almost all categories over the last 36 rounds, ranking 13th in SG: Putting (Bermudagrass). Most importantly, I love his history on these types of golf courses, he is a masterful wind player and winning nearly 100-1 is fair, if not at the cost of generosity.
