Blue Jackets Honor Ohio State and City of Columbus with Stadium Series Jerseys – Hockey Writer – Columbus Blue Jackets

Fans have been patiently awaiting the big jersey reveal for the 2025 Stadium Series. The NHL and Fanatics unveiled the uniforms for the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings on Thursday.

The 2025 Stadium Series will be the 43rd regular season outdoor game and will be played on March 1 at Ohio Stadium.

It's no surprise that the Blue Jackets' uniforms were inspired by those worn by the Union Army. This jersey has some military lie details.

• The chevron stripes on the sleeves represent the rank insignia of the era.
• There is a new “CBJ” marking on the shoulder surrounding two crossed hockey sticks, a nod to the unit name pin worn on the front of a soldier's sombrero.
• The front badge features “The Cannon,” a reference to the Blue Jackets' alternate logo and a key element of any Columbus Blue Jackets home game, and features new metallic silver and red accents.

In addition to these, the jersey also includes the following.

• The captain and alternate captain title letters appear within an Ohio State-shaped patch, while the inside of the back collar includes “Columbus Blue Jackets” along with a graphic of the Ohio State tree, the Buckeye.
• The jersey features stars from the team's main logo on the pants, and an oversized metal-applied team logo and player numbers on the helmet design.

As far as our overall idea goes, the jersey design is simple but very effective. Cannons are a nice, needed touch. This seems to be popular with most fans. Having captains wear their letters on the Ohio State crest is also a good option.

The only question that comes to mind is how the team chooses to incorporate Johnny Gaudreau's No. 13 jersey and whether a separate patch will be added to the jersey. The Blue Jackets have made every effort to keep Gaudreau's memory alive. We don't know what would be different now, especially for a game so historically significant to the franchise.

Between the Red Wings and Blue Jackets, this might be one of the best jersey combinations in recent years. The color scheme suits both teams very well and is easy to differentiate during the game.

Starting Thursday, the 2025 NHL Stadium Series jerseys will be available for pre-order exclusively at all Blue Jackets and Red Wings team stores. Additionally, Blue Jackets fans can pre-order jerseys through February 4 at the team’s official online store.

Both jerseys have “2025 NHL Stadium Series” printed on the inside back hem to commemorate this grand game. The Stadium Series badge is affixed to the right shoulder.

Tickets for the Stadium Series games are still available for purchase on Ticketmaster. The game will air on ESPN on March 1 at 6 pm ET.
