Petoskey, Michigan – Born GolfThis is one of the largest golf resort destinations in North America and has been recognized by Today Usic as the number one golf destination among the top 10 golf destinations in the United States. In addition, Highlands ranks second in the 10 best golf resort category.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by the United States 10best today and some of the best golf destinations in the country,” said PGA, Senior Vice President of Senior Operations, Born Golf Golf Operations. “Only ranked first among these great destinations, it’s a testament to our Born Golf team from golf professionals, agronomics, accommodation as well as food and beverages, who make sure our guests have the best golf experience when visiting Born Golf.”
For nearly 60 years, Born Golf has been a leader in destination golf – now covering 11 courses and 3 resorts. The award-winning golf product complements its main accommodation, Bay Harbor Inn, located on the scenic coast of Lake Michigan, the beautiful mountainous hotel and Chalet Edelweiss in Boyen Hill and the main cottages in the Highlands, which has been transformed into a high-end boutique hotel reminiscent of high-end boutiques in the UK with Charm Conscottish Heights.
“In the survey, the Highlands ranks second among all the great golf resorts, which is a combination of luxury accommodation, great champion golf and service,” said Mike Chumbler, president and general manager of Highlands. “The resort’s significant investment in the main cottage renovation project, coupled with the golf course renovations we are doing, improves the guest experience, which contributes a lot to Born Golf’s overall ranking.”
Now with five courses, Highlands offers the perfect golf experience. Groups can stay in the hotel and will never return to their car during their stay. This summer is a new short course, with Doon Brae located on the back of the Highlanders Inn. The name Doon Brae is Doon means entering the valley, while Brae means the steep river bank or hillside of the Scots because the route is set along the hillside, which is set as the slope of the hillside in winter. Other courses in the Highlands include Heather Course, Arthur Hills Course, Marsh and Donald Ross Memorial, which are also under renovation.
Boyne Golf’s flagship property is located along Lake Michigan and is a nationally recognized Inn for Bay Harbour and Bay Harbour Golf Club, a high-end luxury property located in an old limestone quarry and cement plant factory.
