Botafogo v Seattle Voice: Lineup, Statistics and Preview

Botafogo v. Seattle Detector Race Preview

The Sounders on the MLS side will target their first win in the match with both teams in the opening game of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

“It’s a game against the best teams around the world, so it’s very exciting,” Sounders Winger Ryan Kent said.

“If you want to win a trophy, you have to get close to every game as you did in the finals. You have to set a good pace for the game to start and get a good start, showing other teams that you are not only here to play.”

With matches against European giants Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, both teams must win at Seattle’s Lumen Field Home.

The Rooker has been in nine games (including six wins) since the beginning of the season, in all games, before defeating the Western Conference senior 3-2 on June 1.

Botafogo suffered only five losses on his way to second place in Serie A last year, but Rio was beaten three of its 11 league games in 2025 and won five.

Manager Renato Paiva took over Portugal’s exit from Al-Rayyan on February 28, with his team acknowledging the fewest goals of any team on its Brazilian top flight by leader Flamengo.

They have had an impressive six wins and one loss over the last eight games, including a win against Ceara, Santos, who despite being reduced to 10 players, have been clubs in the last three games.

“We can’t just think of PSG or Atletico Madrid and forget about Seattle,” Captain Marlon Freitas told FIFA. “Like us, they are dreaming.

“The first game is when you start to gain confidence. It’s a game where you need to feel the atmosphere of the game.

“As a family, we will take the first step together…qualification. If you want to be confident and have a great game, then the first game is very important.”

Botafogo spent more than £19m in the club’s special transfer window, signing goalkeeper Christian Loor, defender Kaio Fernando, midfielder Alvaro Montoro, and forwards Arthur Cabral and Joaquin Correa.

Winger Matheus Martins recovered from a left thigh injury and was unlikely to show up after missing two days of training.

Experienced centre-back Kim Kee-hee is fighting for Seattle’s injury, while head coach Brian Schmetzer said forward Jordan Morris is “closely” back after a hamstring problem.

Sounder said that Columbia defender Yeimar Gomez Andrade’s calf problem means Jackson Ragen and Jon Bell may be the only central defenders who are perfectly suited to Stetzer.
