American Hockey League is mourning the recent death of the AHL Hall of Fame Bruce Cline. He is 93 years old.
Cline spent 13 seasons in the AHL between 1955 and 1968, skating for Providence Reds, Buffalo Bisons, Springfield Indians and Hershey Bears. As a rookie in 1955-56, Cline scored 56 points in 64 games to help Providence turnaround from the previous year to the Calder Cup championship. He was named the winner of the AHL Outstanding Rookie Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award.
Cline was a key member of the Springfield dynasty of the 1960s, ranking the league’s top scorer while helping the Indians play three straight Calder Cups. He was the AHL All-Star team in 1960-61 and became the second team in 1962-63.
The Quebec man spent five seasons of his game career at Hershey and retired with 321 goals – still scoring the 15th goal ever – with 452 assists and 773 points in 823 regular season games. Cline was inducted into the AHL Hall of Fame in 2016.
