Bryson DeChambeau had a lot of thoughts in his mind at the 2025 Oakmont Open. But he rarely surrenders to his trademark smile or fan-friendly nature in the course. Tuesday when DeChambeau brought a lifelong memory to a young Up Open fan, it was a challenge and a gift.

DeChambeau had some early practice in Oakmont last week (you can read below), but you can’t prepare for iconic and dangerous U.S. public places.
That’s why, like his competitors, DeChambeau worked hard on Tuesday. But twice defending our open title rarely rejects the opportunity to interact with fans and win more opportunities around him.
Sometime Tuesday, Liv Golf’s X account captured classic Bryson fan moments in Oakmont. In the video, DeChambeau stands on the green near the clubhouse and is twisted with a little boy outside the rope.

What are they talking about? The rules of the spontaneous rock paper tailoring game they are going to play together.
Bryson gave him another chance when the little boy lost the first game and Bryson gave him the scissors.
“Three-thirds?” Bryson suggested.
“Yes, OK!” the fan responded.
The match begins there before Bryson ends the game in Round 3 and fans win round 2.
“Oh, I’m in trouble!” Bryson said after winning.
“Ah, Dennett,” the still-avid fan replied.
But DeChamebau isn’t about getting his new super fans to walk away empty-handed. He quickly took out the mark and signed the golf ball.
“This is for you,” Bryson said, throwing the ball to the fans, “Okay, OK, buddy.”
He obviously won some other fans in the process. When he signed the ball, the older fans shouted, “You’re a man, Bryson!” and “Back to back!”

DeChambeau reveals fans’ impact on his game at the U.S. Open
Tuesday proved to be a particularly busy day for Bryson. He had to balance campus games with fans, intense practices and his pre-match U.S. public press conference.
In a long answer to Liv Golf, his future in the game and the tough Oakmont gift, DeChambeau also revealed a statement about how his fan interactions on Tuesday affected his game.
When the reporter asked him if there was any motivation question, DeChambeau explained that his “low moment” came when he felt “as if there was no place to use the equipment, my golf game, my swinging thought or theory.”
