Why? At Augusta National, players need a club that not only goes far but also launches high enough to land gently. The same benefits are available to golfers on weekends.
The loft is usually around 24 degrees, and 9 wood can fill the important distance gap on the top of the bag, making it useful on 4s and 5s poles, even in 3s and 3s. If your swing is flat or clear, you may find fairway wood is easier to hit than long irons, helping you attack holes and need to be confident.
