Cade Cunningham continues to be outstanding at this moment after joining the top three in the NBA in triple-doubles this season.

Cade Cunningham notches another triple-double

The Pistons defeated the Miami Heat by one point in an exciting game on Monday night, thanks in large part to their star player Cade Cunningham.

He was so hot for the Heat, dishing out an impressive 18 assists (a career high), his fifth 20-plus point performance of the season and 11 rebounds.

In doing so, the latest state line saw him make Detroit franchise history by becoming the first to post those numbers.

Maximum three pairs this season

  1. Nikola Jokic – 10
  2. LeBron James – 7
  3. Cade Cunningham – 6

Another triple-double for Cunningham — his sixth so far this season — moves Cunningham into the top three along with LeBron James and NBA Sportsbook MVP favorite Nikola Jokic name.

In a postgame interview, the 23-year-old was asked how he was able to shoulder so much responsibility for Detroit.

“This is my job, this is my responsibility. This is what I've been asking for since I was little. This is what I've always dreamed of, to be a do-it-all, this is the highest level player you can find,” Cunningham said.

“It’s a blessing to have this responsibility and I try to live up to it every night.”

His playmaking ability was on full display Tuesday night as he averaged 9.7 assists per game for the season, which means he also ranks third in the NBA in assists.

His Detroit teammates were the big beneficiaries of his creativity, with shooting guard Malik Beasley scoring a Pistons-high 28 points on the night, including seven 3-pointers.

Tim Hardaway Jr. also scored 16 points to single-handedly win the game, tying their eight-point deficit in overtime.
