The world of hockey turns to the European Hockey League EHL twice a year to celebrate the hockey club. Someone will tell you that when the EHL replaces the regular European club champion, it is an upgrade to the upgrade game. Some people will tell you about the rule innovations that are famous for – the self-transmission at the top of this list makes it special. They may all be right, but I’m here to remind you that all of this has no foundation for changing… Hockey is what makes it unique!
Because in Europe, sports is not just a product of the entertainment industry. It’s not just a show to entertain the masses… Sports, hockey and our clubs are a way of life, a village where we raise children. Although the EHL did bring us the best of the hockey club. Let’s remember that most of the players there are not professionals. They are students preparing for their careers or young professionals who combine sports with their work and family life. A few exceptions, they are indeed a life of full-time professionals in hockey, and everyone knows that career will be a short career, not a career that will pay bills throughout their lives. But for many people, it really becomes a way of life…our club is where we meet our friends, often a companion in our lives or business. Here we raise our children and share life with our family and friends…that’s what makes our club life, our club hockey special. When we go to the EHL to cheer on our team, that’s what we celebrate…
It also means that it’s not only related to the top teams starring EHL’s main events. Of course, they will attract a larger crowd to fill the stadium. But this also means that the EHL Hockey ID Festival at the same location this Sunday is also related to the EHL Hockey ID Festival. This is also an EHL under 14 activity at the same location. This is about the U19 team organized by EHCO at the same time. All of these events bring our club together and celebrate hockey as the foundation of our sport.
EHCO asked some teams at the event to tell us why they love hockey, what they expect from their EHCO Cup, and who else would win the EHL?
