Celtics ‘close’ to sign £40million star, who now surpasses Kyogo & Kuhn

The Celtics’ transfer strategy at Parkhead is often praised, which was actually named the UK’s best club by the Fair Game Index last year.

Over the past decade or so, the basketball team has made a lot of profits alongside the likes of Ange Postecoglou, Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon, such as Matt O’Riley, Jota, Moussa Dembélé, Kristoffer Ajer, Virgil van Dijk and many others.

Kyogo Furuhashi is probably the most famous example lately. This semester was the scorer of 12 goals in Celtic, who left £10 million in January.

But, especially a forward, the Celtics have to figure out that he has now surpassed that man.

How the Celtics deal with Kyogo’s departure

A person is mainly a mountain and a field.

The striker’s red-hot form continued over the weekend, fighting against Mid-Lothian’s heart, bringing his campaign to 30 goals, with former Heabers and Heart Midfielder Michael Stewart describing “top class.”

But other Celtic strikers have not reached their closest heights except Maeda, as outlined by the table below.

Nicolas Kühn’s form is particularly disappointing, considering he scored 14 in the first half of the campaign, of course he is a Celtic player this season, but now only scores twice since January 5. That is to say, he looks good and can replace Kyogo’s output in time.

Meanwhile, Adam Idah failed to pin a regular starting point, and Maeda was often favored by centers despite signing Norwich’s £9.5million fee last summer.

So if they could complete a deal to sign a “world-class” forward a few years ago, could they solve the central problem of basketball? He is better than JD.com now.

World-class forward Celtics almost signed

Back in the summer of 2020, the Celtics almost signed Ivan Toney of Peterborough United, and then manager Neil Lennon later admitted: “We’re close to getting him… I’m really interested”.

Tony himself said, “I went there…I was actually on the training ground.” Lennoxtown, it was the distance to move.

Instead, Toney joined Brentford for £5m, fired the Bees in his first season, ending with the highest score of the EFL championship before scoring 36 rebounds in Premier League clubs.

The transmission almost happened, but never happened. This post is part of Football Fancast’s Escape series.

Manager Thomas Frank described him as “world class” and reportedly cost £40 million before England International was sold to Saudi professional league team Al Ahli last summer.

In Saudi Arabia’s top game, only Cristiano Ronaldo, Astrazac Hamdara and Marcos Leonardo have scored more goals this season than Tony has, so let’s evaluate the season statistics since he almost signed the Celtics.

Ivan Toney was the third-highest score in the division in the 2022/23 Premier League season, behind Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, despite the following campaigns being severely hampered by the eight-month ban violated the FA gambling rules.

Now in Saudi Arabia, Toney has rediscovered his best, with Middle East football expert Uri Levy describing his performance against Al Ahli as “good” and advocating him for accepting a recall from England.

Matthias Jaissle’s team has scored 22 goals so far this season, meaning he scored goals while also achieving higher levels in the season’s goals by Adam Idah (14) and Nicolas Kühn (18). Global Football Rankings believe that the Saudi Professional League will become the 31st strongest division in the world and the Scottish Premier League ranks 34th.

So, while they continue to do domestic dominance, it’s hard to say that the Celtics won’t be stronger in Toney’s offense.
