“Of course we’re angry” – 10-man Bayern suffered a shocked Kompany Furious after Desliga beat Bochum

Vincent Kompany was unable to hide his frustration after his Bayern Munich side abandoned a two-goal lead after Bundesliga struggler Bochum Cam returned to win 3-2.

Bochum is currently ranked 16th on the table, with Dr. Jakov, Ibrahima Sissoko and Matus Bero damaging Bayern’s 125th anniversary celebrations after Raphael Guerreiro Brace puts league leaders ahead.

Joao Palhinha’s refusal to challenge Giorgos Masouras shortly before the half-time match complicated Bayern’s plight, while Serge Gnabry disappeared between Guerreiro’s goals.

Bayern’s regular penalty kicker Harry Kane was one of 10 changes to beat Leverkusen 3-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Despite the result being the second league loss since becoming a manager, Bayern is still at the top, but second-place Leverkusen is still at the top.

However, the Belgian seemed in the mood to eat the failure, insisting that he was not looking for excuses.

“Congratulations to VFL [Bochum]. This was very unpleasant for us.

“We started well, but we absolutely can’t get a red card. But even with 10 people, we have to win this game, or at least not lose. It didn’t happen today. We’re not looking for excuses or apologies, we’re lost.

“We will analyze it and have to be responsible for it. It’s important that we focus on the reaction. Even with 10 people, we have to have the ambition to win the game, or at least not lose.

“We didn’t solve it. Bochum should feel like he won, and I know how much effort it takes to do so. For us, it’s about the next game.”

Kompany was just as candid when asked about his feelings about Palhinha’s red card.

“It’s a red card. It’s an unnecessary discussion,” he said.

“We have a red card and we lose. We don’t need to talk so much. We’re lost and we have to react on the court now. Of course, we’re angry. The reaction to it is important now.”

Kompany and Co. Head to Leverkusen on Tuesday for the second leg of the Champions League 16 clashes before returning to Union Berlin on Saturday.
