Chelsea “must give fans a championship”

Chelsea owner Enzo Maresca said the club needed to win the trophy after his team beat Copenhagen to enter the final eight games of the conference league.

Chelsea has stuttered since Christmas and stayed away from their best for the Danes.

After 45 minutes of comparison, they were laughed at in the half game, which left them without goals.

But Cole Palmer’s introduction helped them into life, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s excellent solo goal was enough to play the quarterfinals with Legiaa Warsaw.

Maresca said: “It’s important to get to the quarterfinals. Now, the goal is that the next step is the semifinals. We should get it on both legs. We’ve made changes and adjustments in the second half of the year and we’re much better. You need to be patient.

“This club used to always win trophys and we need to do our best to achieve our goals this season. We have to give the fans and the club a championship.”

The quarter-finals will be held from April 10 to 17.
