Chelsea strengthens its efforts to become a favorite of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap

Liam Delap, 22, left Manchester City to join Ipswich Town after advancing to the Premier League in the summer transfer window. He has been leading the survival charges of the Tractor Boy with 10 goals and 26 assists, and he was able to find the back of the network, his body, running strength and ability to hold the game.

So it’s no surprise that the 22-year-old found himself trapped in the radar of the Premier League elite. Chelsea reportedly are eager to get into Delap’s signature, although they face competition from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool. The British (for a breakthrough top sport) could cost £40 million.

Chelsea Eyes Summer Swoop for Liam Delap

Chelsea will sprint again in the transfer window, trying to insert the hole of Enzo Maresca squad. One of the positions that the Pensioner Program addresses is the need for the attack department, clinical shooter.

Nicolas Jackson hasn’t proven himself the source of regular goals since he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Villarreal in 2023. Although he showed signs of progress under Maresca, he could not rely on Senegalese to lead the attack and deliver the goods consistently. Christopher Nkunku did not make it 9th place in the case of injury.

So Chelsea can do a great job with the new No. 9, and Delap will be perfect for that bill. It’s hard to see talent like Delap spending longer in Ipswich – without club positions. The British man’s beating ability has good technical skills, which will be an escalation for Jackson’s inconsistent whilst bringing a more direct dimension to Bruce’s attack.

Due to his physical and aerial abilities, former Manchester City Academy stars are all assets owned in both boxes. Delap also plays very hard, and for the opposition defender, it’s a constant pest. At the age of 22, he was still very young and had a lot of room for growth. This is exactly the smart guy for the striker to be on the Stamford Bridge.

But Chelsea may have a hard time signing Drapp when big guns like Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United stay firm in the game.
