England under 21 has not yet impressed in Slovakia and has competed in tonight’s quarterfinals with Trnava’s Spanish Under 21 major.
Lee Carsley’s men improved from Group B, thanks to a 3-1 victory in Czechia, Slovenia’s Dur draw 0-0 and a 2-1 victory over Germany.
Carsley hasn’t decided on a formation that seems to fit the young lion, the ninth of lack of quality, which means he has to take advantage of the likes of Jonathan Rowe and Omari Hutchinson for unfamiliar positions.
Spain seemed more settled and cruising in Group A, achieving the highest level after a draw against Slovakia, Romania and a draw with Italy.
They are favorites, but Carsley is still confident England will be surprised.
“I’m not like the weak,” he said. “If we can perform and we can play our abilities, then we have a great chance to win the game.
“I think we still have a lot of people from the group and we have a great game for Spain to look forward to. The longer we can stay in the game, the stronger the team will become.
