Crystal Palace is planning a summer shock for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, currently on loan at Aston Villa.
England International joined Aston Villa in the January transfer window as it failed under Old Trafford’s head coach Ruben Amorim. Since defeating Manchester City 2-1 in mid-December, the Red Devils’ owners have been upset with the striker’s attitude towards training and have been constantly omitting him from his team.
Marcus Rashford has no choice but to leave the club within the 2025 transfer interval. Aston Villa called for his signature, he joined their loan, while the Unai Emery party had a £40 million purchase method in June. But if they refuse the chance to sign him permanently at the end of the season, Crystal Palace will be reportedly keen to put out Rashford.
Crystal Palace retains Marcus Rashford
Rashford showed signs of a revival, scoring five goals and providing three assists in Aston Villa’s 22 appearances so far, which led to a recall of England for Thomas Tuchel in the 2026 World Cup qualifier.
The British strikers thrived at Emery in Villa Park, and ideally they could afford a £40m buying option in his contract. But if they don’t, Crystal Palace will jump up to sign the man’s joint lender. Hawks executives kept a close eye on Rashford’s performance ahead of a potential summer wave.
“The Palace has been very concerned about Rashford and what happened to Villa and Manchester United,” a source told the Sun.
“At the moment, there’s a nice buzz around the club and people like Marcus are exactly the kind of players they want to attract.
“They knew they were going to have to keep better players and convince Marcus to move to south London.”
Oliver Glasner built an exciting squad around Eberechi Eze, Adam Wharton, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr. But people like Eze, Wharton and Mateta are all related to the export of Selhurst Park.
Eze has another productive season in the palace, but it may end up being his last run at the club. South Londoners consider England International to be one of their valuable assets and their desire is to keep him for many years. However, this desire may not be enough to keep Greenwich-born talent in another season.
If Eze leaves the Eagles, the club chiefs can decide to replace him with Rashford, who seems to have no future for Manchester United under Amorim.
