Stars are listening to Jason Robertson, but hope to move other players
Dave Pagnotta in Phase 4: Dallas star general manager Jim Nill received Jason Robertson’s status, Pagnotta wrote. Robertson has one year left in the deal, at $7.5 million. The stars are in a block crunch when they hope to re-sign Jamie Benn, Mikael Granlund and possibly Matt Duchene. But, as Duchene said, he is looking for stability for the next contract. He is no longer looking for a year’s deal.
NHL Rumor: Who Will Become the Next Head Coach of the Dallas Stars
Dallas has about $4.5 million in blocking space. But outside of Robertson, they were reluctant to trade unless the price was right. This price must be a bragging offer; other names that will help them do are Mason Parade, Matt Dunbar and Ilia Leibushkin. The parade has 10 times without trade terms, so it would be fun to see where he ends up going.
However, the Dallas Stars hope to clear the cap space at the NHL draft in Los Angeles. Jim Nill has work to do, including finding a new head coach.
Can Maverick Bourque or Matt Dumba also play for the Dallas Stars?
The fourth phase Dave Pagnotta joined Steve Kouleas and Martin Biron on Wednesday at a regular location on Sirius XM NHL network radio and discussed Dallas Stars, exploring options to clear Cap Space instead of moving Robertson.

NHL Rumor: How to Be Active in Offseason
Dave Pagnotta on Sirius XM NHL Network Radio: “Everyone knows where the stars are financially and how much the cap stack is. They have less than $5 million in cap space to sign with, they’ve been saying they’ve been saying they want to sign some fashion with Jamie Benn. There are a few other pieces to do.
Mavrick Bourque is RFA. He will be the target for some other teams, and I know Marty likes this, the offer paper business, so it may be the target. However, they hope to create additional cap space, and the team has called and reached out to see what Jason Robertson costs. Now, every sign of what I get is that I am very reluctant to move him. If so, that’s OK. This will require a package to achieve.
This does speak to many in the league. The name of the Mason Parade is there. They were listening there. Some teams call him active available. He’s paid $4.5 million, but if they move him out, it will relieve the huge financial pressure on the stars to get the rest of the job done.
NHL Rumor: New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks May Be Closed in Chris Kreider Trade
I also heard Matt Dumba’s name. I think his cap is $3.5 million. So, preference is to keep Robertson, but if their backs are against the wall, it is the possibility that they can at least release these types of dollars.
