Davis leads Michigan golf course principal

Gene Davis, general manager of Elk Rapids Golf Club and general manager of golf courses, leads Michigan Golf Course Principal

ACME – Gene Davis, General Manager and Golf Course Director of Elk Rapids Golf Club, was elected to the 2025 chapter of the Michigan Golf Course Directors Association (MIGCSA).

Davis started his seventh year on the MIGCSA board, his 25th year in the golf industry and his 11th year in the Elk Rapids GC, living with his wife Carissa and his three boys Jackson in Rapids, Graham, 17, 13, 13 and Rhett 8.

MIGCSA held its 18th annual meeting and elections on Tuesday, February 25 at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa in ACME.

Other officials elected to the MIGCSA board include Scott Pulaski, vice president of Walloon Lake Walloon Lake Country Club, and Craig McKinley, secretary/treasurer of Buck Run Golf Club in Pleasant Mt. Pleasant.

The election marks the end of the board service of Doug Hoeh, former president of Treetops Resort & Spa. We are most deeply grateful for his service to our industry. We also want to thank Kevin Rish of Saginaw Country Club for serving our board of directors.

William “Skip” Connolly, from Grand Rapids Alpine Golf Club, was re-elected as his Western Regional location. Two new board members, Jordan Caplan, CGC from Belvedere Golf Club in Charlevoix, and Andrew Paxton from Spring Lake Country Club in Spring Lake were also selected for the three-year period.

MIGCSA is committed to providing opportunities for members by enhancing and promoting professional programs and services. MIGCSA has over 800 members and is managed by CGCS Executive Director Adam Ikamas
