Devils’ head coach Sheldon Keefe fined $25,000 for non-professional behavior – Hockey Writer – New Jersey Devils

On Sunday night, the Las Vegas Golden Knights shut the New Jersey Devils 2-0 with a heartbreaking loss, totally pandemonium at the end of the game. With less than two minutes left in the third phase, Jack Hughes walked down the tunnel after an awkward collision with the board.

When the referee refused to fine, head coach Sheldon Keefe resigned and asked that the call should be made. As a result, not only did Keefe win a minor fine, but he was also popped up for misconduct in the game.

Later, when Keefe talked to the media, he tried to articulate the situation, but ultimately it was up to his decision to face the referee. He claimed that the devil was punished for earlier similar violations and should call, especially because Hughes was injured during the game. NHL Public Relations announced Wednesday afternoon that Keefe was fined $25,000 for his actions.

Ironically, this is not Keefe’s first violation in a game against the Golden Knights. Last season, the Toronto Maple Leafs fell 6-2 to Vegas, with a similar outbreak after Mitch Marner was asked to trip over at the end of the third inning. He was then fined for “unprofessional conduct targeting officials.”
