Liv Pro Sam Horsfield walked out of the route after struggling with nine holes on Tuesday in the final qualifying round of the 2025 Open Championship. R&A disqualified professionals for their actions.
Horsfield was disqualified because he failed to report him out of the game without warning tournament officials.
But on Tuesday night, Horsfield broke the silence and explained why he was walking, which involved the arrival of last week’s LIV event, where late night fire alarms and telephone alarms failed to wake him up.

Horsfield is one of 14 LIV golfers who competed in one of four final qualifying matches for the Open Championship on Tuesday. He competed at the West Lancashire Golf Club in England, and after a 36-hole marathon, only the top five in the 72-player field won the Open.

But Horsfield only lasted nine of the holes and walked out of the track with a score of 43 points.
Horsfield posted a long explanation of his behavior in an Instagram story Tuesday night, superimposed on @nunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnunnulgolf social media to learn about its DQ.
Horsfield explained in his message that he arrived at Heathrow Airport at 4pm on Monday before heading to West Lancashire, finally fell asleep around 11pm and woke up.
But Horsfield claimed that the fire alarm was fired at 1 a.m. and he was forced to “stay outside for about an hour.” He said he didn’t fall asleep until 5:30 a.m. and then slept under the fire alarm, then slept in his six o’clock alarm, and was awakened by the caddie.
The entire incident left Horsfield “totally dizzy and leaving all day”, resulting in his poor game and ultimately a walk.

Horsfield added a message condemning “propaganda” [LIV] Player. ” He did not explain why he withdraws without telling officials to hold an open qualifying match in Caesare.

While Horsfield was DQ, companion Liv Pro Lucas Herbert was one of five professionals to win the open title in the final qualifiers of West Lancashire.

Herbert joined the 20-year-old amateur Richard Teder, who entered the final spot in the playoffs. Sampson Zheng, George Bloor and Oliver Linedell are other qualifiers in Caesare.
In the Royal Cinque Ports qualifiers, LIV stars Dean Burmester succeeded in the kick-off time with Curtis Knipes, Nathan Kimsey, Sebastian Cave and John Axelsen.
Harry Hall, Justin Walters, Jacob Skob Olesen, OJ Farrell and Frazer Jones are eligible in Burnham and Berrow in England, while Liv Pro Lee Westwood, Connor Graham, Daniel Graham, Daniel Hidalgo, Angel Hidalgo and Jesper Sandberg Sandborg was qualifying for Dundonald Links in Scotland.
