Due to the number of Premier League teams that will participate in European competitions, the EFL Cup will be held an additional extra round in 2025-26.
Next season, they will compete in nine Premier League teams in the European League Championship.
Six Premier Leagues will compete in the Champions League, including champions Liverpool and Newcastle United, who ended a 70-year wait for the domestic trophy in this year’s EFL Cup final.
Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Europa League champion Tottenham Hotspur will join them.
Aston Villa and FA Cup winner Crystal Palace will enter the Europa League, although the latter’s involvement is doubtful due to possible violations of UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules. John Textor is the owner of Eagle Football, which owns a 43% stake in the Palace. However, Eagle Football also has a 77% stake in French side Lyon, which is also eligible for the Europa League.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will be in the conference league after the seventh ends.
The Premier League club in European competitions did not enter the EFL Cup until the third round. But to accommodate those nine teams, the EFL chose a four-team initial round, reducing the first and second rounds.
It will be promoted by both sides from the National League, Barnett and Oldham Athletics, as well as third and fourth in the second league, Newport County and Ackerlington Stanley.
The ties will be zoned into the north and south, meaning Aclinton will face Oldham, Newport will adopt Barnet and start the week starting on August 4.
The first round of draws will take place on June 26, and the relationships will take place within a week starting August 11.
Newcastle will start the defense in the third round, with Hipies and eight other European teams competing with these links in the weeks starting on September 15 and September 22.
