England will be the first team to retain the European U21 championship when they face Germany in Saturday’s final.
Lee Carsley’s team is a step away from successfully defending their 2023 title from his position in the showdown to defeat the Netherlands 2-1.
Harvey Elliott’s stand proved decisive in the final four clashes, with the Liverpool striker bringing his game into four goals.
England made progress in the knockout rounds after a victory over Spain, highlighting their lineage.
But in Germany, they faced one side who beat them 2-1 in the group stage.
Ansgar Knauff and Nelson Weiper’s goals gave Germany a victory in the encounter, which helped them win Group B with a 100% record.
However, their danger is the grand figure of Nick Woltemade, who is the top scorer in the tournament.

But Casley has a lot of faith in him.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “One step further, that’s the biggest step.”
“But we have this experience, we have done it before, so hopefully we can have a lot of respect for our opponents, but try to impose our game plan on them.
“We all set out with one goal, and that is to try to win it again.
“It’s obviously easier said than done, but I hope the lads have the confidence and belief that we can do it.
“We try to keep all hope in St. George [Park] And believe here, I think players have a great spirit for them.
“I think they’re really together, they’re committed to what they’re trying to do, and I’m lucky to be a coach and other staff, working with these players.
“You forgot the age of this team. Very young, had setbacks, but left again. I thought they were so mature and they had a great team spirit.
“The most important thing now is, like we said after the Spanish game, [reaching the final] It cannot be our highlight. We have to make sure now we try to get the job done. ”
