Unai Emery believes Aston Villa is experiencing a “best moment” in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Premier League top five chasers Newcastle.
Ollie Watkins scored 33 seconds later, giving the hosts a lead at Villa Park and level with Gabriel Agbonlahor as the club’s record-breaking scorer in the Premier League.
Watkins then hit woodwork twice, winning the game in six games before Fabian Schar was on the Newcastle average.
But it ends here, as three unanswered second-half goals from Ian Maatsen, Amadou Onana, who scored a goal from Dan Burn Onana to win Villa in another Champions League season next semester.
The result also extended Villa’s impressive home record to 19 competitive games without losing.

“We focus on this game,” Emory told Sky Sports.
“I’m totally happy with our reaction. We can’t waste time. We’re at our best moment now.”
In a post-match interview, Watkins admitted he was “smoking” after he beat PSG’s starting lineup in the Champions League 3-2 Champions League on Wednesday, but Emery praised his forward.
“He’s doing well. His commitment is always high, and that’s the competitiveness we want,” Emory said.

Villa next is in the action against another competitor in Pep Guardiola in Pep Guardiola.
Emery is on the side of the trip to Atihad on Tuesday night before playing against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley on Saturday.
Before heading to the city mid-week, the villa owner said: “Manchester City did a great job. They are not as consistent as before, but they are still the top five contenders.
“It’s a challenge, we feel strong and look forward to it. But it’s going to be very difficult, but it’s the challenge we want.”
