Scottie Scheffler explains embarrassing master green jack moments

Rory McIlroy’s winning putt finally ended at the end of the championship defense of 2024 Masters playoff champion Scottie Scheffler. Even though he failed to win the third Masters title, he still had important work to do: put the green jacket on McIlroy’s shoulder.

In fact, he was asked twice.

The official Masters Green Coat Ceremony was held outside the clubhouse near the 18th Green, sitting in the Augusta members’ seats to speak, Chairman Fred Ridley and the winner’s speech background. The highlight, though, was when the winner of that year helped the champion into his green coat.

But first, the winner headed to Butler’s Cabin for a TV green jacket ceremony and was interviewed by Jim Nantz of CBS.

Ridley was part of the ceremony, as was the winner of the previous year, and he worked the same job as him at the official ceremony.

Scheffler’s fast butler’s exit

So once McIlroy celebrates with his friends and family immediately after the victory and then heads to the scoring formally, he takes off to meet at Butler Cabin.

McIlroy was interviewed to start the part and quickly became emotional with the moment of sinking. Scheffler, on the other hand, had to sit awkwardly silently next to Rory, whose green coat draped over his arm as the water factory began.

After the interview, Ridley addressed Scheftler and issued his march order.

“Scotty…” Ridley began, “We would be honored if you put your green jacket on our 2025 champion Rory McIlroy now.”

Then, two pro players stood up and Schefler tried to put the green jacket on McIlroy for the first time. Although no one is playing golf with the two men on Earth right now, both of them struggle temporarily to get Rory’s right arm into the jacket.

However, as a coat slipped down, Schefler took a step back and quickly exited the screen without even shaking Rory’s hand, and could never see it again…

Until two days later, Schefller will defend another 2024 title this week when he attended his own winner ceremony at the legacy of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).

RBC’s rituals included opening fire on cannons when Scheffler drove in the plaid champion jacket of that game. After making a big fuss, he talked to the media and his quick butler’s slogan appeared.

Schefler quickly explained his thoughts.

“It was such an exciting day at that moment [McIlroy]I just tried to get away from the obstacles and could basically wear a jacket without embarrassing him or myself. ” Scheffler joked when he was joking.

Scheffler then gives a more thoughtful description of his experience, watching Rory win the victory and how he feels relief connections with McIlroy.

“I had to watch the whole celebration. I watched it over. What I could see was really cool because I didn’t – I know anything about the career as a professional slam, but I have a tiny bit of what it feels like to be asked, hey hey, you did it, but you didn’t.

Sffler also revealed that from his perspective, the tenor of the McIlroy celebration seemed more like relief, which McIlroy confirmed Sunday night.

“It’s so cool to be able to see Rory get the job done. From the outside, it looks more like comfort than anything,” Scheffler said. “Rory did everything in the golf game, and it was really the last thing he was going to do. This guy won the FedEx Cup, the player, all four majors. Maybe the only other thing is that the Olympics are what he wants to win.”

He continued, “So it was so cool for him to be there at that moment. He was a great friend of mine. It was really cool to be able to congratulate him and see him and his family.”

Fortunately for the two Masters champions, the official green coat ceremony took place shortly after their initial Butler hut fell. This is especially important because one or both of them must attend the ceremony again in the coming years.
