Springfield, Massachusetts …President and CEO of the National Hockey League Scott Howson AHL alumni announced today Grant Foer and Lorne Henning Selected as honorary captain Spotlight 29 Casino Presents 2025 AHL All-Star Classicwill be held February 2-3 in Palm Desert, California.
Each year, All-Star Classic Honorary Captains appear with participating teams in the locker rooms and on the bench during the event and are recognized for their careers during the annual AHL Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony.
Grant Foer During his Hall of Fame career, he played for four different AHL teams, including the Moncton Alps (1982-83), Cape Breton Oilers (1989-91), and the Rochester Americans (1993-94) and St. John's Flames (1999-2000)). A member of the Edmonton Oilers' five Stanley Cup championship teams, Fall won 403 National Hockey League games over 19 seasons with Edmonton, Toronto, Buffalo, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Calgary. Contest. He was a six-time NHL All-Star and won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's top goalie in the 1987-88 season. Fuhr also represented Canada in the Rendez-Vous '87 Series against the Soviet national team, the 1984 and 1987 Canada Cup Championships, and the 1989 IIHF World Championship. Fall is a longtime resident of the Coachella Valley and has served as a broadcast analyst for the Firebirds since their first season.
Lorne Henning His professional hockey career began in the second round of the 1972 NHL draft when he was selected by the expansion New York Islanders. He is currently in his 53rd year of professional hockey career. Henning played 543 games for the Islanders before retiring in 1981 and was a member of the team's four consecutive Stanley Cup championships, two as a player and two as an assistant coach. Henning served as the head coach of the AHL's Springfield Indians during the 1984-85 season before being promoted to the Minnesota North Stars the next season and later coaching positions with the Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks. Henning joined the Vancouver Canucks' hockey operations department in 2005 before serving as assistant general manager from 2008 to 2015 and is currently in his fifth season as a professional scout with the Seattle Kraken.
