What is Augusta National Course Record?

It got him into a strong argument when Jordan Spieth poured a lengthy birdie putt of No. 16 at the 2018 Masters. But it also gave him other opportunities: Augusta National Course Record. Spieth reached the 17th T-shirt at 9 strokes, but at 17th, Bogey fell on the record of 18 times.

Price quit early on Saturday, April 12, 1986 – he barely advanced in the 79-69 game to start the Masters. Things are not bad: He found a fairway bunker on No. 1 and made a taboo. But his round was in a hurry. He made a turn of 33 below 33 in No. 2, 5, 6 and 8.

Master’s course history

Price’s 63 set a new course record and broke the 46-year record set by Lloyd Mangrum. In 1940, Mangrum opened the tournament with a bottom 64 shot, with Jimmy DeMaret taking a three-stroke lead, who went on to win the game.

Although many have threatened Augusta’s record in recent years, only one person equals Price’s 1986 effort. In 1996, Greg Norman released Thursday, making nine birdies in the last 12 holes, shooting 63 in the first round and taking two shots to the young Phil Mickelson. But for Norman, everything didn’t end well: despite taking a six-shot lead on Sunday, he scored 78 shots against Nick Faldo and lost five.

Spieth has shot 64. Rory McIlroy shot 64 in 2022. Tiger Woods has won five Masters, but his best round is 65. Phil Mickelson’s best round is 65, which he recorded in 1996 and in the final round in 2023. In 2018, there were plenty of final-round fireworks: Paul Casey shot 65, and Webb Simpson was seven-under through 16 holes before finishing with bogeys.

Main champion low round

At the U.S. Open, Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele tied for two points and 62 in the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club. Six players shot 63 shots, although only one – Justin Thomas kicked off his game in the 72 shot.
