Former Barcelona striker Christoph Dugarry said Real Madrid “hit the rock” with their manners before and during the weekend.
The European champion lost 3-2 to Barcelona in overtime – Jules Kounde won the late championship for the Catalans – but that tells only half the story of a weekend.
Madrid ran a campaign against the referees before the match and then opposed their right to respond, and on the court, they had three players defeated because failure was accompanied by shame.
Dugarry demands action against Madrid
Dugarry played for Barca in a career and he also played spells with Bordeaux, AC Milan and Marseille, as well as 55 appearances from France, which he felt was needed to take strong action.
He told Rothen Enflamme: “I still want to know how the world’s largest club smears the referee before the game. What examples does Real Madrid offer for the youth in the world?
“They have to be sanctioned. If they don’t, it will be a disaster for football. Seeing young people use the thug method leave the world’s most popular sport because of what leaders are doing.
“They have trampled on the football. Real Madrid hit the bottom of the rock.”

A controversial weekend
Prior to the game, Madrid had asked referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea and VAR official Pablo Gonzalez Fuertes to replace, highlighting mistakes in their careers after two officials outlined their disgust in a video on the club’s internal TV channel.
Bengoetxea’s biggest appeal for the game favored Madrid, as he initially decided to award Barcelona the fine for Barcelona in the 96th minute after Pitchside Monitor made a VAR review after Raul Asencio appeared to have lowered Raphinha.
This means that the normal time ends at a 2-2 match level, with Ferran Torres taking Madrid’s lead after Pedri’s excellent opener for Barca after Kylian Mbappe’s free kick and Aurelien Tchouameni’s header.
But Kounde won Barcelona with a fierce drive in the 116th minute as they stayed on the high notes and prompted an angry scene from Madrid’s bench with defender Antonio Rudiger having to turn officials after being sent out.
Jude Bellingham and Lucas Vazquez were also fired because Madrid lost their discipline.
