Middlesbrough fired head coach Michael Carrick after the club failed to make the championship play-offs.
The Teessiders have won only one of the last six games, with the club deciding to play separately from former Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielders.
Carrick impressed by joining Middlesbrough in October 2022, giving them a top six, but they failed to make the playoffs in the next two seasons, with Chairman Steve Gibson deciding to swing the axe.
The club has broken up with head coach Michael Carrick today.

The club statement reads: “Middlesburg Football Club broke up with head coach Michael Carrick today.
“Michael’s assistants Jonathan Woodgate and Graeme Carrick also left the club.
“We want to thank Michael, Jonathan and Graeme for all their hard work and unwavering commitment. We wish them all the best.
“The club will not comment any more at this stage.”
Nottingham Forest owner Steve Cooper, who briefly last season at Leicester, was one of the candidates to replace Carrick at Riverside Stadium.
