Aakash Chopra pointed out Dube's mistakes in the 2024 T20 World Cup final and questioned his absence from the team. The cricketer-turned-commentator said in a video posted on his YouTube channel:
“What happened to Shivam Dube? I also wanted to talk about Ruturaj (Gaikwad) but he couldn't get his place. Rajat Patidar was there too. Obviously, there was a lot of batting. But, now I'm going to focus on Shivam Dube a little bit, He was a member of the T20 World Cup winning team.
“When you win, everyone should get credit. He even played well in the final. There were definitely doubts before about his poor fielding and poor batting. But then he played well and became a T20 World Cup winner. ”.

Aakash Chopra added that Dubey suddenly disappeared from the horizon. He felt the batsman deserved another year or two. He explained:
