Gennaro Gattuso explains the reasons behind his public quarrel with analyst Josko Jelicic.
Gattuso refused to shake hands or talk to Hajduk in a post-match interview after yesterday’s 3-0 defeat at champion rival Rijeka.
Jelicic, who once played for Hajduk, was impressed by their performance and criticism of Gattuso, whose players apparently returned to Italian, had no doubts when facing the TV cameras.

Gattuso said: “I don’t think he respects me or the player. He keeps asking things in public. It’s easy to talk in the media when no one is behind you or behind you, but what bothers me is that he is a professional player and knows the problems of football and the problems that come with it.
“It really disturbs me when someone tells me I’m a foreigner. What does that mean? Am I not playing football? Am I not part of here? Say to me, like you said we weren’t playing well.”
Gattuso – Jelicic has destroyed my players for months
Jelicic won a hat from Croatia, but the match against Austria was sent and never played again.
Gattuso questioned the qualifications of criticizing him and his team.
He added: “My players suffer the greatest pain – he has been destroying them with sarcastic comments for months, like he won the World Cup, the Champions League, as if he was the greatest coach in the world.”
