Golf Business News – EcoBunker celebrates a decade of pushing the boundaries of synthetic bunker technology
As 2024 draws to a close, EcoBunker, the industry's leading innovator in synthetic bunker wall technology, is celebrating its tenth year of supporting the rapidly growing golf industry.
Starting in 2014, by injecting capital and creating a reliable supply chain, company founder Richard Allen was able to develop his five-year-old invention into a sustainable business he knew he could grow.
EcoBunker has since grown into a highly successful international business, involved in hundreds of projects covering every major golf sector.
“It’s been an incredible decade and I want to thank all the courses, designers and golf industry professionals without whom we wouldn’t be where we are now,” Allen commented. “Challenging the way things have always been done is a very difficult task, so I will always be grateful to everyone who has had faith in us and what we are trying to achieve.”
Significant milestones over the past 10 years include the development of EcoBunker Advanced, a cement-modified backfill technology that reduces the EcoBunker's shipping weight by half, thereby stimulating international business growth; and the design of two further technologies – EcoTec in-tank fuel tanks lining and AquaEdge synthetic waterside; recent investments in EcoBunker’s own production facilities have allowed for more control over R&D and product testing, a process that has produced the next generation EcoBunker Advanced, which should be available by the end of the year before mass production.
“When I invented synthetic bunker edge technology, I knew it could be a game changer,” Allen said. “We can cut maintenance costs, extend the life of groomed bunkers four times, and provide a visually stunning addition to the golf course that provides golfers with a great experience year after year. I I'm incredibly proud of what we've accomplished over the past ten years, and I can't wait to see where the next ten take us.
The next chapter of the EcoBunker is already taking shape with the introduction of next-generation EcoBunker Advanced technology, designed to reduce installation costs and increase the strength of bunker walls. With the next generation of products already in development, the future looks very bright for EcoBunker.
