Greenkeepers and greenkeepers across the UK and Ireland will be among the first globally this season to experience Syngenta's innovative Evopac packaging, which will be showcased for the first time at BTME later this month.

Evopac makes spraying operations easier and safer and is fully compatible with closed transfer systems using easyconnect couplings.

Evopac and easyconnect offer easy-to-handle packaging, precise measurement and fast sprayer filling, which are critical for timely lawn applications. The new packaging will begin shipping to lawn managers this month (January) and will be rolled out to the company’s range of liquid products in the coming months.

Designed in close collaboration with sprayer operators in the UK, Evopac has a range of features that make it easy to operate and safe to use. It offers significant advancements in working with traditional meter and pour sprayer filling as well as new CTS technology.

The ergonomic package includes a handle that swivels specifically for left- or right-handed operators and is large enough to work easily while wearing protective gloves. The handle design allows operators to easily remove packages from boxes, as well as carry multiple packages.

The translucent packaging allows the operator to clearly see the contents, along with measurement scales marked up and down to show remaining contents when pouring by hand or when used upside down on a CTS dispenser to measure packages of parts. The packaging also means operators can visually check whether the container has been fully rinsed.

When used in conjunction with CTS (which will increasingly become the norm for operators), product can be transferred directly to the sprayer without the need to manually open or pour the container, thus eliminating the risk of associated spillage or any operator exposure.

The symmetrical Evopac design remains balanced and stable when mounted to the CTS. It also helps automate container flushing more efficiently, ensuring all product ends up in the tank and on the lawn, and creates clean packaging for 100% recycling. The Easyconnect caps on the Evopac are made from the same material as the bottles, so they can be left on and recycled together.

Introducing Evopac, Syngenta Turf Business Manager UK and Ireland Sarah Hughes said: “Evopac plays a key role in Syngenta's responsibility for sustainability and providing a better experience for customers. Turf protection products are important when handling and using them. There may be associated risks. Evopac and closed transmission systems are an important step in mitigating risks to operators, customers' businesses and the environment.

Leading sprayer operator Iain Robertson added: “The feature that excites us most about Evopac is the translucent packaging, so you can see what’s inside the can and check the rinse after use. The fact that the label is not wrapped around the can around so you can see the scale. Also, you can flip the package and the scale will still show the contents in both directions.

“The new lid is great too as you can twist it off and use it as a traditional lid or with a CTS unit. No foil which is Syngenta standard but love that. The handle is sturdy enough to be secure Small handles on the bottom make them easy to handle when donning PPE.

“When you use Evopac in practice, you’ll find that all of your little wish list as an operator has been ticked. The entire package makes it safer and easier for everyone to use.

Evopac will be the standard packaging for all Syngenta turf liquid products, available in 1, 3, 5 and 10 liter packages.
