Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola attributes Dean Henderson’s “waste time” in the 2025 FA Cup final to the goalkeeper being the British – and says Omar Marmoush was awarded a 1-0 penalty to the city’s 1-0 failure between the newcomer and regular Taker Erling Haaland.
Henderson kicked off Marmoush’s first half kick shortly after luckily avoiding red cards outside the free throw zone, making a string of saves before a full-time whistle at Palace’s first big trophy seemed to have a verbal disagreement with Guardiola.
“Listen, he defends his position, we defend his position,” Guardiola said. This is the first season without a major trophy since Guardiola’s first first campaign at the club in 2016/17. “He’s British. Sorry – everyone can do what they want.

Haylan missed three of his seven penalty shots in all of the 2024/25 matches, including Bournemouth in the quarterfinals, and he seemed to decide not to seize the opportunity, kissing the ball and Mamosey on the head while handing the opportunity to Egyptian strikers.
While it is not clear whether City had arranged for Haaland to withdraw before the game, no confusion was taken by the video assistant referee (var) review of Henderson pieced together the ball outside the box and prevented two-time Premier League gold medal winners from breaking in, but lost his confusion about Henderson’s rashness.

“But I understand Henderson’s position – it’s a question for the referee. I know when [late]. But I can’t feel it. My team plays the game like people should watch.

In a dynamic final, the city – the main team of British football between 2017 and 2024, entered their third straight FA Cup final – started with a large number of possession and goals, with Horran among the players rejected by the outstanding Henderson Saves.

“My inspiration.” Guardiola smiled when asked about Echeveri’s surprise introduction. “I’m a talented manager.
“To be honest, it wasn’t a bad decision for his playing style and chances. He had three opportunities in a small space.
“I saw him in training classes. He was very, very good in a small space and really creative in that regard. You have to find something in this kind of game, dribble and find a two-person.
“The Love of Crystal Palace [defending] cross. He is usually so smart and precise. We have a chance, but unfortunately we can’t score. ”
