Former Espino President Joan Collet slams Joan Garcia’s decision to join Barcelona, claiming he’s “going with the monsters.”
Garcia announced yesterday that he intends to move around town after the Spanish champion agreed to pay his €25 million release clause. He will officially sign a six-year contract tomorrow.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper joined 15-year-old Espanyol and entered the first team, becoming a symbol of fans who will always live in the shadow of the city’s more outstanding clubs.
He chose to be the first player to move to Espanyol in 31 years, which gave a very sour taste.

In a message on social media, Garcia tried to explain his reasoning, but admitted: “I know this decision is not easy to understand.”
Collet certainly did not back down, describing it as a “betrayal.”
He said on El Mon A Rac1: “I am very disappointed with this approach, where he and where he has been.

“He cheated on his teammates in the locker room, coach…he made us all believe that there is still eternal love.
