How to decide which wedge bounce is right for your game
What is bounce?I would say bounce is a tough thing to define precisely, but overall it is the angle between the front and rear edges of the club soles.
To visualize it, place the wedge upright on a flat surface. Bounce is the angle generated between the front and ground of the club. The closer the front edge is to flat, the lower the bounce.
The difference in bounces is obvious when you place two wedges side by side on a flat surface.
Michael Williams
The bouncing loft ranges from 4 degrees at the lower end to 14 degrees at the higher end. So, which bounce is right for your game? There are two main factors to consider: where you play and swing style.
If you usually play in soft and wet conditions, more rebounding wedges will help. In solid conditions, bounce is usually the only way to go. If your swing is shallow, you need less bounce. On the other hand, steep swingers tend to benefit from more rebounds.
Titleist Vokey SM10 Oil Can Custom Wedges
$249
Vokey Design has introduced its new limited edge oil that can be done, modern Vokey oil that can look like a modern update and now offers the performance and technology of the Vokey Design SM10 wedge. The finish is newly refined and highly durable, a nod to Vokey’s popular can of oil, which is able to complete the past generations, and it goes all the way back to the Vokey 200 series wedges. The new limited edge finish is applied through PVD treatment, which helps to obtain a rich copper color while minimizing reflectivity and maximizing durability. Distance and Trajectory Control: The Vokey Design SM10 wedge has an optimized progressive CG position for accuracy in distance and track control. In the 46-52° model, the CG is lower, making better transitions from iron groups and more consistent distance gaps. The CG will also be close to the center of the face, helping to eliminate too much draw and provide a solid feel based on feedback and testing from the Tour player. Maximum Rotation: Vokey’s patented rotary groove cutting process provides a score that provides higher, more consistent rotation and wedge after the wedge. Parallel microtext between grooves helps to maximize partial shooting and applies high-frequency heat treatment to impact areas, doubles the durability of the groove edges compared to untreated grooves.
