Brighton owner Fabian Hurzeler distanced himself from conversations with European football matches ahead of the Premier League on Wednesday.
The Seagulls climbed onto the table after an impressive victory against Southampton on Saturday and now have only three points against sixth-place Bournemouth, which they faced Tuesday.
But the Germans refused to speculate whether his team could return to Europe at the end of the season.
Speaking before the game, he said: “When you win the game, there is always a good atmosphere. We appreciate that this is, but it’s hard work. We need to keep the momentum and understand why there is this. type of momentum.
“I never look at the table too much. You can only influence the way you play. At the end of the season, you can look at the table. But for the moment, it’s a game and trying to get the best performance from the players.
“The key to this club is to develop young players and groups. At the beginning, we had a lot of new signings. Now, it’s an internal goal about where we’re going. We’re going to see what happens at the end of the season, but now it’s about the fact that we’re going to be. It’s too early to arrive in Europe. We have to wait for the right time to talk about it.”

Cherries in the town
When Bournemouth visited American Express, Brighton had a great chance to reach points with their European competitors.
The Seagulls have poorer goals against their opponents, which means that victory cannot depend on other outcomes, but that will make them a reality.
But Andoni Iraola’s side has been one of the surprises of the 2024-25 season, and their day can match any Premier League club.
Hurzeler realized this and admitted it was difficult to know what to expect from them.
He added: “It’s hard to make a game plan for Bournemouth, but it’s hard to do that with any club in the league. Bournemouth’s style is very clear.
“They are very intense. Competing with them will be a challenge for us and we need to be at the highest level mentally and physically to prepare them.
“But we will be able to do that because we have proven it in the past few weeks. We must retain the standards and improve them in order to prepare for the challenge to Bournemouth.
“Dango Ouattara, Antoine Semenyo and Justin Kluivert are all very fast and sporty. They are all very good. But we need to try to avoid these transition moments.”

Pedro Power
If Brighton is to win, they will need to rely on the quality of Joao Pedro, who finally returns to form.
The Brazilian played against Southampton’s opener and could nod to start over in such a big game.
Hurzeler said of his forward: “Joao is a confident player. He knows he can decide the game through one move. Not only does he have that idea, but he also has it. Quality and skills proved last week.
“For me, his behavior as a team player is even more important, and he proved last week that he has been there for his teammates. It showed me that he is really committed to this club and wants to be everyone hopes for it. He became a team player.
“I’m glad he’s back on the court and deserves his behavior, his attitude toward training and of course his quality.”
