As the new 2025 IPL (Indian Premier League) season approaches, there are multiple reports that the IPL will adopt the International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct (ICC) regulations for all players in the 2025 season.
The decision was reportedly taken at the recent BCCI Governing Council meeting, where several important topics including the upcoming WPL, IPL and Champions Trophy were also discussed.
“From now on, ICC sanctioned penalties will be imposed for level 1, 2 or 3 offences. So far, the IPL has had its own code of conduct, but going forward, playing conditions will be followed as per ICC T20I regulations, News18 quoted IPL GC members as saying.
It is worth noting that in IPL 2024, as many as 10 code of conduct violations were registered. There were several moments during the game that became controversial and went viral.
Tim David, Kieron Pollard, Virat Kohli, Sam Curran, Rashid Salaam Dar Rasikh Salam Dar and Ishan Kishan both committed Level 1 violations in the subsequent match. However, the rules have reportedly changed and certain violations will no longer be listed in IPL 2025.
