Eddie Howe took the adaptive “waiting and watching” approach of Alexander Isak, Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon before his Monday night trip to Leicester.
Isak and Trippier were both eliminated in a 2-1 win over Brentford on Wednesday night, while Gordon suffered a heavy defeat in his international duties against England and missed St James’ Park Wednesday match.
On top scorer ISAK and defender Trippier, Howe said: “Let’s see today. Of course, I had a medical update yesterday, but I saw them for the first time today. Hopefully they feel fine. I don’t think we’ve had any major damage from Wednesday night.

At Gordon, he added: “He hasn’t [returned to full training]. We are monitoring another one. We think he is still recovering from a very bad knock that he got for England, his legs are still big.
“He has completed his personal training. He has not participated in group training. He still has no 100% pain.”
Crowded fixture lists could get in the way of Newcastle
Newcastle is in the Premier League sixth place and still hopes to get a spot in the Champions League next season.
Howe is concerned that his team may work hard to keep their recent good shape, especially on a crowded fixed list.
“Yes, especially the number of games we get in a short time,” he added. “We have three games in six days [starting on April 13].
“It will be a testing period for us, but we just have to try to manage and navigate this period reasonably with the players we really are. We need to take care of everyone. If we can get a good, strong team on the court, then we’ll be enough.”
Howe talks about midfield three
Newcastle’s strength lies in the goal of the midfield trio of Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali.
Asked if he felt the three were one of the best midfielders in the top flight, Howe said: “I had a hard time giving a definite answer, and just looking at those individual players, they all brought something different and that’s what you want when you talk about balance.
“You want the creativity that Bruno can bring us, Sandro takes us and Jolinton’s body to have good decisions. Supplement together. Although you can think of it before putting them together, sometimes you can’t measure chemistry. You can’t measure chemistry. You’ll be just as important. That’s why some players will express it better with other players because its logic shows logic.
“They get there. Every game, maybe the understanding of each other gets better and stronger.”
Howe insists that Leicester has been bad despite its recent form
On the surface, the trip to Leicester should be a routine mission, with the Foxes losing the last seven Premier League games without scoring, but Howe insists it will be a tough game at Kings Power Stadium.
“We know they’re dangerous, we know they have good players,” he said. “Jamie Vardy is still a huge threat. He brings a unique qualities we need to control. Rudd [van Nistelrooy] His team plays good football, so we have to be vigilant. There is no simple game. ”
Leicester, who ranked 19th in the Premier League list with 12 points in safety, seems to be heading towards an immediate return to the championship.
