Novak Djokovic Looking to start his 2025 season with one of his biggest rivals as coach.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion will compete with Andy Murray According to reports, the pair had a 10-day training session ahead of Djokovic's season-opening match at the Brisbane International Open, which starts on Monday.
“Being on the same side of the net is actually great for a change as he has always been one of my greatest opponents,” Djokovic said in comments posted on the ATP website.
Djokovic admitted the dynamic of working with Murray took some getting used to.
“In a way, for me, sharing all these insights about how I'm feeling on the court, sharing some of the secrets of what I'm going through, what I'm thinking about, how I look at my game, it's really important to me. “It's very strange but I'm delighted and very grateful that he accepted to work with me in Australia. ”

Djokovic has won 25 of 36 meetings with Murray and says the recently retired Scot has helped him better understand his current game and his strengths and weaknesses.
“He has a unique perspective on my game and is one of the greatest opponents I've ever faced. He knows the strengths and weaknesses of my game,” Djokovic said. “He's been playing on tour recently, so he knows all the other best players in the world right now, the young guys and the weaknesses and strengths in their games. So I'm looking forward to it, I'm really looking forward to it.
“I think he brings a whole new side to my game that I will definitely be able to benefit from on the tennis court. And he also has that championship mentality and I'm sure we will work well together.
Djokovic will open his season against Australia's Linky Hijikata in Brisbane. The 37-year-old will also partner Nick Kyrgios in the doubles draw.

He said he hopes to play more matches than he did in 2024, when he posted a 37-9 record and underwent midseason knee surgery after the French Open.
“I plan to play more games this year than last season,” the Serbian legend said. “Hopefully the level will improve so I'll be able to win some tournaments and get higher in the rankings.”
