James Milner can break Premier League appearance record after signing a 12-month contract extension in Brighton.
The 39-year-old has played 638 games on top UK flights, second only to Gareth Barry (653).
He may have surpassed the former Everton midfielder last season, and that’s not because the injury was limited to four appearances.
Milner’s influence extends to the court, and Brighton owner Fabian Hurzeler is eager to talk about his importance in the locker room.

Hurzeler praises Milner for his influence
Hurzeler said on the official Brighton website: “I’m glad we will be with James again this season.
“Last season, he couldn’t help the team on the court as he wanted, but around the team, his experience was priceless, especially for young players.
“He is a good guy who has in our environment and he’s been on me and the team. I look forward to working with him again.”
Milner started his career in Leeds, joining Brighton in 2023 before spells with Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester and Liverpool.
His name has 61 England caps and has won three Premier League titles and one Champions League.
