The Columbus blue coat got a huge push when Captain Boone Jenner was able to return from a shoulder injury suffered in training camp. Now, we are beginning to see the enormous degree of this improvement to more than one.

“It’s a leader,” Johnson said of Jenner’s leadership. “He sees his efforts every night. He always does a great job in the fight. Then, he’s just a good guy, very positive. He’ll say something if he needs to. I think he’s doing a great job in helping you (when needed). It’s saying what he believes, and it’s fun to play with him.”

“He’s a worker, but he loves it too. I think it’s the perfect balance. It’s contagious. We’re lucky to have him as our captain.”

Kirill Marchenko recorded a hat trick on Tuesday night. He couldn’t stop smiling as I reflected on all the things the captain did in his eyes.

“We love it. I think everyone loves playing with him,” Maltenko said of Jenner. “He’s a great leader (and) great captain and he gave us all the energy. His goal scores are a lot () and makes a lot of things happen on the ice. We need to follow him, and it’s incredible.”

Denton Mateychuk is a leader in his own right. As the captain of a junior, he understands what it will bring to such a position. He also saw Jenner’s approach and tried to learn from him.

“You can only see him getting into the rink every day and feel so excited,” Mateychuk said. That energy falls out when a man is happy to be on the rink and playing football. You all know he worked hard to come back. It was awesome to see this. That is leadership, just having this mentality. I think the way he behaves and the way he speaks in the room is how he helps the team. ”

When considering Jenner’s career, it is incomplete to consider his number alone. Despite his positive impact and rapidly improving the franchise team, we must consider his role as captain equally.

Jenner did the Captain’s stuff for everyone in Johnson, Fantilli, Marchenko, Mateychuk and Blue Jackets.
